Choosing More Than One Art Practice

My atelier
My Messy Atelier Where I Make Stuff
My whole life, I have been alternating writing with making stuff. I could not choose between one or the other. At 52, I chose to NOT choose: I do what I feel like I want to make and create.

Since that decision, I feel much more at peace, I'm more creative, more inclined to show and share my work. I finish what I start.

As I was also taking time to journal my progress, I became more conscious of the process, my process. I found that my brain has two ways. One with words, and one with lines, colors, shapes and textures. One with thoughts and a pen, the other one with whatever my hand can find to create with those brain-eyes (my invention), more visual.

I discovered Creative Me has seasons in a year. For example, summers are for making stuff and reading. Winter is for writing, and a bit of drawing and painting. Equinoxes help transition from one to another.

If I can, I read all year long but, this past year, I added a graduate program to my schedule, so reading is more related to my studies. If you are curious of what I'm learning, ask in the moderated comments. 😎

I embrace my learner beginner status. And, that's it. Now, I need to figure out how I will share these discoveries. Probanly somewhere on a platform nearby...

As I complete this short note, I had totally forgot this blog... I'm back at it as is now. Promised! How often, we shall see. It all depends if I get to cover for another big wave.

I have this idea: I want to make a personal zine: you will find it in the margins when ready for consumption.

Thanks for reading: this is ESL GenXer signing off, for now.

I also have a life on Instagram and Goodreads
