Ethics and Publishing

Image
The first Wednesday of each month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. As members of this community, we post on our own blog our thoughts, talk about our doubts, the fears we have conquered, and we our struggles and triumphs. Go read the post of our awesome co-hosts  here  and here . August 6 question:  What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry? To tell the truth, I always feel bad commenting on subjects I do not know deeply. Do I find unethical material online? Yes, all this copying of other people's works, like plagiarism, bothers me.  The Book Edition World: a Topic I Know Little About I know very little about the practices in the publishing world. If we compare independent authors and those who work with an agent and a publishing house, there are differences, at least in my corner of the world. Here, bookstores and libraries exclude independent authors from distribution. Only authors published by a “real” publishing house may be...

Story Time: My Relapse

After another failure to stay fit (i.e. relapse), I decided again to eat healthier, be mindful at the table, and be more active this week. And I found this website linked to a magazine with  healthy meal plans .  So I chose a 7 Day diabetic meal plan and 7 day plan to help lose your belly plan. Source This year, I did not decorate my house with skeletons and phantoms.  I did not prepare any treats for my neighbourhood either. It felt bad and mean. To tell you the truth, I did not want to get creative and figure out a way to distribute those candies with nice, clean and safe manners. I was - and I'm still - frustrated with not being able to hug my own kids and their loved ones because they live a in a safer zone than mine. I am sad and angry at the pandemics and its obligations. So much blaaah mood because social distancing and social bubbles! I also disagree with the constant use of chemical satinizers on children's bodies and their food. There have been numerous recalls because of the presence of a toxic version of alcohol in those products, which were dangerous for children and pregnant woman. Did you know? No one knew unless they read the very small prints on the labels.  I want the children to be free and creative, and happy. They need a life, with a loving flex...
