Choosing More Than One Art Practice
My Messy Atelier Where I Make Stuff My whole life, I have been alternating writing with making stuff. I could not choose between one or the other. At 52, I chose to NOT choose: I do what I feel like I want to make and create. Since that decision, I feel much more at peace, I'm more creative, more inclined to show and share my work. I finish what I start. As I was also taking time to journal my progress, I became more conscious of the process, my process. I found that my brain has two ways. One with words, and one with lines, colors, shapes and textures. One with thoughts and a pen, the other one with whatever my hand can find to create with those brain-eyes (my invention), more visual. I discovered Creative Me has seasons in a year. For example, summers are for making stuff and reading. Winter is for writing, and a bit of drawing and painting.
